You may have noticed that the Mergin Maps app has had a few updates in the last two weeks. Our development team had a busy October hunting down bugs and making optimisations to the app. The last two updates from 2.4.0 to 2.4.1 have brought some significant improvements in the speed and stability of the app. These changes include:
- Faster identification speed of objects with many points
- Faster home screen loading
- Improved stability from 20 bug fixes
Don’t just take our word for it, check out this video showing the loading speed for a large project with thousands of files in the latest update compared with the previous version:
But wait, there’s more…
We haven’t just improved the stability and speed of Mergin Maps, we’ve also added a few new features that have been requested by our users, such as:
- Ability to zoom in on images
- QGIS distance units used in Stakeout mode
- Support for HTML, Text and Spacer QGIS form widgets

While it’s been a busy month, we won’t be resting on our laurels. We’ve got more exciting things in the pipeline, including a much-improved user interface and updates to the web-based dashboard that you’ll want to keep an eye out for. As always, you can join our Wishlist to request and vote for new features that you’d like to see in the app.
Now let’s go capture some data!
