We’re about to release a big update to the Mergin Maps mobile app in a few days which will include a completely updated UI. This is the final step in the brand update we began last year. We’ve been working on the new look and interface of the app for several months and hope you notice an improved experience when you use the app. The app has been given a more streamlined interface and a more modern feel and is now in line with the makeover we already implemented on the web and dashboard.
Now with a more streamlined workflow
The new layout and interface of the app will make using Mergin Maps even easier. The biggest changes will be an improved button layout in the map view and a refresh to the home screen.
Now, the bottom panel includes the Sync, Add (formerly Record), Layers and More buttons. The GPS button has been moved to just above the bottom panel on the right side and the Projects button is now accessed by touching the More menu option. This makes it easier for you to access and toggle the visible layers and search for features. You’ll also notice that the app uses the full screen of your device instead of showing the status bar at the top of the screen.
The improved Home menu now shows the active, recently updated and downloaded projects. Making it easier to find the projects you’ve been working on more recently.
The text and colour scheme have been improved for better readability and widgets such as calendar, image capture and others are better designed for usability on a mobile device. We’ve also improved the feedback field users receive from the app such as simpler workspace and project setup, messages reminding them not to close the app during syncing..
Keep an eye out for the update which should be rolled out to all users soon and let us know what you think of the new UX!!
