Galileo Galilei famously said “Measure what is measurable and make measurable what is not”. We’ve taken this to heart and now one of the most requested features, a measurement tool, is available in the latest update of the Mergin Maps mobile app to version 2024.5.0.
This is a great tool for cases where you might want to measure a path before recording or maybe you just want to know how big that pothole that the council refuses to repair really is. Whatever your reason, now you can easily measure a distance or area on the map with just a few simple steps.
To access the tool, just click on the ‘More’ button on the bottom right of the map screen and select ‘Measure’ from the options. Start adding points to measure a distance and close the shape to the first point to measure the area. See the video for a quick demonstration of how the tool works.
Now you’re probably thinking “Wow, this measurement tool is really great. I love Mergin Maps, but I just wish it could ________”.
